Attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Foundation brought together the pioneers in solar energy from all over the world: women and men who marked the history of solar energy through their fabulous adventures. The great names of solar exploration were alongside the team, partners and guests of PlanetSolar Foundation for a historic evening during which the exhibition &#8220;Pioneers and adventurers in solar energy&#8221;, as well as a book(Favre Editions), were presented for the first time. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7edah-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7edah-0-0\">\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"Pionniers et aventuriers de l\u2019\u00e9nergie solaire, ils \u00e9taient avec nous : \"><em>Pioneers and adventurers in solar energy, they were with us:<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Fred To \"><strong>Fred To<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Fred To est anglais et est l\u2019inventeur du premier avion solaire (1978).\">Fred To is English and is the inventor of the first solar plane (1978). <\/span><span title=\"Il a men\u00e9 le projet dans une v\u00e9ritable \u00ab course au premier vol solaire \u00bb, avec son acolyte David Williams, malheureusement d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 il y a quelques ann\u00e9es.\">He led the project in a &#8220;race for the first solar flight&#8221;, with his sidekick David Williams, unfortunately deceased a few years ago. <\/span><span title=\"Il a donn\u00e9 la maquette originale de son avion, le Solar One, \u00e0 la Fondation PlanetSolar et cette maquette est d\u00e9sormais expos\u00e9e dans l\u2019exposition. \">He gave the original model of his plane, the Solar One, to the PlanetSolar Foundation and this model is now on display in the exhibition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Marshall MacCready \"><strong>Marshall MacCready<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Marshall MacCready est le fils de Paul MacCready, l\u2019inventeur d\u2019avions solaires d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1980 aux Etats-Unis.\">Marshall MacCready is the son of Paul MacCready, the inventor of solar aircraft since the 1980s in the United States. <\/span><span title=\"Marshall a \u00e9t\u00e9 en 1980 le premier pilote du Gossamer Penguin, premier prototype solaire de son p\u00e8re.\">Marshall was in 1980 the first pilot of Gossamer Penguin, first solar prototype of his father. <\/span><span title=\"Il n\u2019avait alors que 13 ans et a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi comme \u00ab pilote d\u2019essai \u00bb en raison de sa l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 ! \">He was then only 13 years old and was chosen as a &#8220;test pilot&#8221; because of his lightness!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Janice Brown-Sullivan \"><strong>Janice Brown-Sullivan<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Janice Brown-Sullivan fut la pilote principale du Gossamer Penguin (1980) et la premi\u00e8re pilote du second prototype de Paul MacCready, le Solar Challenger (1981).\">Janice Brown-Sullivan was the lead pilot of Gossamer Penguin (1980) and the first pilot of Paul MacCready&#8217;s second prototype, the Solar Challenger (1981). <\/span><span title=\"Elle parvient, aux commandes du Solar Challenger, \u00e0 l\u2019altitude record de 4 000 m, une grande premi\u00e8re pour l\u2019aviation solaire. \">It manages, at the controls of the Solar Challenger, at the record altitude of 4,000 m, a great first for solar aviation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Stephen Ptacek \"><strong>Stephen Ptacek<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Stephen Ptacek fut le pilote du Solar Challenger pour la premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e de la Manche en avion solaire (1981).\">Stephen Ptacek was the pilot of the Solar Challenger for the first crossing of the English Channel by solar plane (1981). <\/span><span title=\"Le Solar Challenger parcourt alors 262 km entre la France et l\u2019Angleterre, apr\u00e8s un vol d\u2019un peu plus de 5 h. \">The Solar Challenger then travels 262 km between France and England, after a flight of just over 5 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Josef Jenni \"><strong>Josef Jenni<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Josef Jenni est l\u2019un des initiateurs du Tour de Sol (premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition en 1985), qui est la premi\u00e8re comp\u00e9tition de v\u00e9hicules solaires au monde et qui a eu lieu en Suisse.\">Josef Jenni is one of the initiators of the Tour de Sol (first edition in 1985), which is the first solar car competition in the world and took place in Switzerland. <\/span><span title=\"Il a construit de nombreuses voitures solaires qui participaient aux courses.\">He built many solar cars that participated in the races. <\/span><span title=\"Le Tour de Sol a eu lieu chaque ann\u00e9e jusque dans les ann\u00e9es 1990. \">The Tour de Sol took place every year until the 1990s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Pierre Scholl \"><strong>Pierre Scholl<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Pierre Scholl est un constructeur et pilote de voitures solaires genevois.\">Pierre Scholl is a manufacturer and driver of Geneva solar cars. <\/span><span title=\"Avec son \u00e9quipe, il a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 de nombreuses courses de voitures et de bateaux solaires.\">With his team, he has participated in many races of cars and solar boats. <\/span><span title=\"Il a surtout men\u00e9 une v\u00e9ritable aventure dans le d\u00e9sert du Hoggar avec une voiture solaire.\">He especially led a real adventure in the Hoggar desert with a solar car. <\/span><span title=\"C\u2019\u00e9tait en 1987 \">It was in 1987<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Matthias Wegmann \"><strong>Matthias Wegmann<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Matthias Wegmann est un navigateur solaire qui a vogu\u00e9 sur les fleuves d\u2019Europe et en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e d\u00e8s la fin des ann\u00e9es 1980. Il a parcouru des milliers de kilom\u00e8tres avec ses diff\u00e9rents bateaux solaires.\">Matthias Wegmann is a solar navigator who sailed on the rivers of Europe and the Mediterranean since the end of the 1980s. He has traveled thousands of kilometers with his various solar boats. <\/span><span title=\"Et il marque lui aussi une premi\u00e8re : celle du premier naufrage d\u2019un bateau solaire, puisque son Basilisk I sombre \u00e0 cause d\u2019une temp\u00eate au large de Majorque! \">And it also marks a first: that of the first sinking of a solar boat, since its Basilisk I sinks due to a storm off Mallorca!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Martin Vosseler, Mark W\u00fcst et Beat von Scarpatetti \"><strong>Martin Vosseler, Mark W\u00fcst and Beat von Scarpatetti<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Ils ont initi\u00e9 et particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019aventure du Sun21, premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e de l\u2019Atlantique en bateau solaire (2006\/2007).\">They initiated and participated in the adventure of Sun21, first crossing of the Atlantic by solar boat (2006\/2007). <\/span><span title=\"Martin Vosseler est m\u00e9decin, et est l\u2019initiateur du projet Sun21.\">Martin Vosseler is a doctor, and is the initiator of the Sun21 project. <\/span><span title=\"Mark W\u00fcst est un pionnier de la construction navale de bateau solaire dans les ann\u00e9es 1990. Son chantier naval MW-Line \u00e9tait bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Yvonand, dans le canton de Vaud.\">Mark W\u00fcst was a pioneer in the solar boatbuilding industry in the 1990s. \"><strong>Erwan the Rouzic, Jens Langwasser, Christian Ochsenbein and Raphael Domjan<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"A bord de PlanetSolar pendant le premier tour du monde \u00e0 \">On board PlanetSolar during the first solar-powered world tour (2010\/2012), the crew of PlanetSolar was almost complete during the evening (only Patrick Marchesseau, one of the two captains was missing).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Naveen Rabelli \"><strong>Naveen Rabelli<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Naveen Rabelli a accompli un voyage de l\u2019Inde \u00e0 Londres en tuk-tuk solaire (2016).\">Naveen Rabelli completed a trip from India to London in solar tuk-tuk (2016). <\/span><span title=\"Cette aventure a \u00e9t\u00e9 largement m\u00e9diatis\u00e9e et le tuk-tuk solaire de Naveen se trouve d\u00e9sormais au Mus\u00e9e suisse des transports de Lucerne. \">This adventure has been widely publicized and the solar tuk-tuk from Naveen is now in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Bertrand Piccard et Andr\u00e9 Borschberg \"><strong>Bertrand Piccard and Andr\u00e9 Borschberg<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Bertrand Piccard et Andr\u00e9 Borschberg sont les pilotes du premier tour du monde en avion solaire (2015\/2016).\">Bertrand Piccard and Andr\u00e9 Borschberg are the pilots of the first round of the world in solar airplane (2015\/2016). <\/span><span title=\"Ils d\u00e9tiennent de nombreux records et ont accompli, au cours de l\u2019aventure Solar Impulse, les premi\u00e8res travers\u00e9es du Pacifique et de l\u2019Atlantique en avion solaire. \">They hold many records and have achieved, during the Solar Impulse adventure, the first crossings of the Pacific and Atlantic by solar airplane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span title=\"Anne Qu\u00e9m\u00e9r\u00e9 \"><strong>Anne Qu\u00e9m\u00e9r\u00e9<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span title=\"Anne Qu\u00e9m\u00e9r\u00e9 est une navigatrice bretonne avec laquelle Rapha\u00ebl Domjan a navigu\u00e9 dans le passage du Nord Ouest en 2015, en kayak solaire.\">Anne Qu\u00e9m\u00e9r\u00e9 is a Breton sailor with whom Rapha\u00ebl Domjan sailed in the Northwest Passage in 2015, in a solar kayak. <\/span><span title=\"Elle est retourn\u00e9e dans le Grand nord canadien durant l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 2018 pour tenter \u00e0 nouveau l\u2019aventure, cette fois-ci avec une embarcation solaire un peu plus grande.\">She returned to Canada&#8217;s Far North in the summer of 2018 to attempt the adventure again, this time with a slightly larger solar boat. <\/span><span title=\"Plus de 800 km ont \u00e9t\u00e9 parcourus au solaire dans les eaux les plus froides du Globe !\">More than 800 km were traveled by solar in the
