She started her build in 2008 in Kiel, Germany in the Knierim Yachtbau shipyard. PlanetSolar took shape and turned into a giant catamaran, the world\u2019s largest ever built.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-149-2-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell panel-grid-cell-empty\" ><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-149-3\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style\" ><div class=\"fps-bigger panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-149-3\" ><div id=\"pgc-149-3-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-149-3-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>With a <strong>futuristic<\/strong> <strong>appearance<\/strong> the giant solar vessel was nevertheless entirely designed and fitted out with the <strong>latest<\/strong> <strong>technology<\/strong>. In fact, it was very important to Rapha\u00ebl Domjan to prove that technologies did exist for achieving solar energy exploits and that they already had immense potential. All the materials, components and instruments used in PlanetSolar are therefore<strong> available on the market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-149-3-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"4\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>On <strong>25 February 2010<\/strong> more than 200 guests attended the unveiling of PlanetSolar in Kiel. Shortly afterwards, on 31 March, the largest catamaran in the world felt the lap of the water for the first time in <strong>Kiel<\/strong>, to the unconcealed emotion of the team which had made this moment possible. After sea trials she was ferried to the <strong>Mediterranean<\/strong>, ready to start her circumnavigation adventure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-149-3-1\"
