IN A FEW WORDS

In order to promote the PlanetSolar project, a travelling exhibition in the form of a Village will accompany the first World Tour using solar energy. At each stopover the Village will make it possible for visitors to familiarise themselves with the world of PlanetSolar and to find out about the various aims of the project.

Numerous displays will be offered to visitors (remote control solar-powered boats, PlanetSolar simulator, competitions, etc.) and several exhibitions will give them information on specific subjects relating to renewable energy. The Village will also make it possible to make visitors aware of the use of our resources, and to organise cultural events, educational programmes, conferences, interactive exhibitions and to show films.

The objective of PlanetSolar extends to the village because this is in part self-sufficient in energy. In fact, its power supply comes partly from solar panels and the rest is from "green" current.

The inauguration of the Village took place at Yverdon-les-Bains in September 2009 and its next stopover will be in Hamburg. You will be able to visit the Village at the Hafengeburtstag which will be held from 7 to 9 May.

Above all, the village allows for:

Providing a permanent platform to let the public take part in the Planet-Solar project in Switzerland and the rest of the world.
Promoting sustainable development, especially from the environmental point of view.
Displaying real solutions and putting across a positive message.
Making ecology popular and showing how absolutely everybody, however modest their means, can play their part in protecting our planet.
