Septembre 7, 2009 - The PlanetSolar Touring Village was inaugurated at Yverdon-les-Bain
The PlanetSolar Touring Village was officially inaugurated at Yverdon-les-Bains on 3rd, 4th and 5th September 2009. The PlanetSolar team would like to extend its warmest thanks to its partners, the volunteers and the town of Yverdon-les-Bains for their support, without which none of this would have been possible. After this successful inauguration, despite rather poor weather, the project is continuing to make progress in better conditions. The entire PlanetSolar team would be delighted to see as many of you as possible at the Touring Village's future stops.

September 2, 2009 - PlanetSolar announces two new partners, as the Village opens on the 3rd of September
Two new partners chose to go into partnership with the first solar wordltour by boat.
PlanetSolar has chosen Météo-France to be the first meteorological partner of the first world tour in a solar boat. Thus, PlanetSolar will be able to benefit, during the three years to come, from the expertise of climatologists and of previsionists specialized in marine meteorology.
The second new official partner is SunPower Corporation, the American producer of solar cells, a leader in the field, that undertakes to support the PlanetSolar project by supplying the solar cells of the boat.
The PlanetSolar touring village will finally be unveiled from tomorrow and until September 5th. This totally new and futuristic village will allow the public to become more aware of the renewable energy sources, but also to understand and to discover the PlanetSolar project as a whole.

June 2009 - PlanetSolar and the HEIG-VD have sealed their agreement
The School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD) and PlanetSolar have sealed their scientific partnership on the 29th April 2009 at Yverdon-les-Bains.
By this marriage with PlanetSolar, the HEIG-VD enters into an adventure of a campus project, to which all its members, students, administrative personnel, teachers, will be associated. A booth will enable following the daily operations' development. The laboratories of Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Technologies, and Embedded Systems will be in charge of studying and proposing the boat the best possible trajectory. In order to be as fast as possible, these trajectories will be defined so that collect the maximum of solar energy and at the same time avoiding contrary winds and streams. PlanetSolar's team is looking forward to this new partnership.

May 2009 - The PlanetSolar Village starts at Yverdon-les-Bains!
The Swiss tour of the PlanetSolar Village will start in September in Yverdon-les-Bains! From 3rd to 5th September, the public, as well as local schools may discover the project for the first circumnavigation of the globe in a solar-powered boat. The three spheres of the village will host various events on the sustainable development theme for children and adults, conferences and stands. You may take control of the immense PlanetSolar thanks to a simulator. If you too want to be part of the launch of this extraordinary adventure, whatever you do, do not miss this appointment. The entrance will be free.

May 2009 - Moritz Leuenberger visits PlanetSolar
During the Harbour Festivities in Hambourg, at the beginning of May, the PlanetSolar stand had the honour to have the visit of the Federal Advisor Moritz Leuenberger. He could learn more about the project and showed his enthusiasm to PlanetSolar's team.

24th April 2009 - Candino watches and Présence Suisse join forces with PlanetSolar
On the 24th of April, at a press conference in Fribourg, Candino watches announced their support given to PlanetSolar. The watchmaking group, based in Bienne, thus becomes a major sponsor of the PlanetSolar adventure. The Swiss Federation will support the project in its diplomatic relations worldwide as well as in its media representation in the different countries visited by PlanetSolar. This press conference also provided the opportunity to announce that the departure of the world tour has been moved to April 2011 in a Mediterranean town which will be selected in the course of the next few months.

11th March 2009 - New partners trust PlanetSolar
The month of February was fascinating for all the PlanetSolar team.
PlanetSolar signed a partnership with the publishing company Cabrera in Paris. This team will be in charge of the creation of PlanetSolar educational programme, by means of a comic book. Children all around the world will be able to follow and share the adventures.
PlanetSolar also have a new partner. Alcan Airex Ltd have confirmed there support as official supplier. This company will provide PlanetSolar with composite materials.
« Alternative channel », the web TV of sustainable development will become a media partner and will follow the PlanetSolar adventure by broadcasting images throughout the route.
With regards construction, everything is going well. The immersed part of the first hull will soon be ready to pass into the painters hands and the mould of the superior part of the hull is being made.

24th of December 2008 - It's Christmas time for PlanetSolar, the construction of the boat is starting
The construction of the biggest solar boat in the world will begin in a few days in Germany. All tests and simulations have confirmed the detailed study, which began in 2006.
PlanetSolar attracts the support of new partners and sponsors.
The French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Land Settlement supports the project which, according to Minister Jean-Louis Borloo, is «a terrific demonstration of the potential of renewable energies».
La Semeuse coffee also joins the PlanetSolar project as an independent SME wanting to be affiliated with Helvetic solar projects which will, without any doubt, shape the future.
The Maison D'Ailleurs will also participate in the action of postcards. In order to keep an authentic trace of this exploit, numbered and limited edition postcards will be brought onboard PlanetSolar and sent to the chosen recipient, once the around the world using solar energy is completed. They will be available for purchase on our website as well as at the Maison D'Ailleurs.

The PlanetSolar team held a press conference on 14th of October at 11am in the French capital on board the « Clipper Paris « (Paris Yacht Marina, Port de Grenelle, Paris XVème). Gérard d'Aboville, co-skipper and famous French sailor, and Raphaël Domjan, founder and skipper, will unveil the main partner, the new boat design as well as the latest developments in the project. Keep in mind that PlanetSolar is a Franco-Swiss project.
