PlanetSolar berthing in Malta

Hello Everyone !

In the morning on August 1st, we left Sardinia and the city of Cagliari. It was a beautiful, clear sunny day as the wind dropped the day before : the Mistral, this wind of the Mediterranean Sea, so feared by sailors …

We left the harbour accompanied by the flashes and cameras of the RAI. Fire fighters and the port authorities were there as well. Leaving a place is always a moment full of emotion ! We have met some great Sardinian people here : the port authorities, the staff of PR Consulting… the Facebook contest was a success due to its many budding artists and photographers… At least thirty winners were shooting pictures from every angle possible, trying to find the best one … and PlanetSolar is a nice model, is it not!

Back to reality ! 2 days now that we are at sea. We encountered some dolphins and petrels … we really admire those birds. They must have a splendid view at our solar ship from up there !
After 2 days, we are sailing along Sicilia. Yesterday, we discovered the island Marittimo in the afternoon. The fog is very thick here. It is also a little scary because fisher boats are sailing by less than 100 meters away from us… we have to remain vigilant ! Thomas and Etienne will take the first watch from 2 to 6 am and Cyril, Nikita and me will take the second from 10pm until 2am. The full moon is very bright and beautiful ! We really enjoy having such a companion at night, it gives the atmosphere a magical touch. We have a thirst for discovery, we want to find another island, meet new people, hear a new language … We are heading ” Qui va piano, va sano ” as the Italian would say, toward Malta, the island of Corto Maltese !

We wish you all a sunny start in August !
